Slow progress in the studio this month. Managed not to miss any days on the coiling chronicle. Like getting a perfect attendance award at school! Getting some work done on Persistence of Memory lately. It’s actually beginning to look like something. Did some writing, then read what I’d been writing and hit EDIT. Lots of rewrites….. Hope all is well with you.

Hi Lin – Thanks for the studio update. Sometimes progress is slow – I know it is with me with weaving lately. The Coiling Chronicle is lovely! Thanks again for sharing your progress.Lynn B.

Tell me about the coiling chronicle! What’s the story on that, or do I need to look at past posts?

Of course, Janet. This is a daily practice I started in 2023. I started this chronicle in September of last year. Each morning I pick three strands of yarn–I use 5/2, 10/2 and 8/2 weaving cottons–and stitch a short section to represent that day. I use a closed figure-8 stitch for all my coiling, wrapping around the new, bare cordage in one direction, then stitching around the previous row in the opposite direction. I decided to try something different with this chronicle. Instead of using 3 random color each day, I’m using one of the 12 colors from the color wheel for each month. I started in September with yellow/orange, October’s color was orange etc. March’s color was blue/purple. April’s will be blue. So each day I use the base color for the month with two additional colors. I hope this answered your question. I have several posts about the chronicles if you want to look back and let me know if you have any other questions.
